Children’s Ballet Program Class Description

Classical ballet lessons for children 6-12 years old

This program is designed for students ages 6-12 who are interested in learning classical ballet. We will introduce ballet vocabulary and broaden each student’s mastery of steps. In Ballet 4 and 5 they will be introduced to supplementary dance styles including modern, contemporary, and flamenco.

There will be several performance opportunities including main stage performance of storybook ballets, classical repertoire and contemporary choreography, as well as parent observation and competition opportunities. Placement class required for Ballet 2 and higher.

Ballet 1 & 2 Dress Code

Girls

• Bloch Girls Essential Short Sleeve Leotard (CL5602) Lavender
• Students will wear their class leotard, pink seamless fully-footed ballet tights, and pink ballet slippers.
• Hair must be pulled back in a bun or securely clipped in a ponytail or a braid.

Boys

• Any plain white t-shirt and black athletic shorts are acceptable, below are two options available on Discount Dance by Body Wrappers. Students will also wear white ankle socks, white ballet slippers, and briefs/athletic underwear under shorts.

Girls

• Block Girls Essential Short Sleeve Leotard (CL5602)
• Block Adult Essential Cap Sleeve Leotard (L5602)
• Students must wear their class leotard, pink fully-footed ballet tights, and pink ballet slippers. No skirts are allowed in class, minimal jewelry, and warm-ups allowed as needed.
• Hair must be in a classical ballet bun or french braids secured to the head for short hair.

Color: Lavender

Students must wear their class leotard, pink fully-footed ballet tights, pink ballet slippers, minimal jewelry, and warm-ups allowed as needed.

Hair must be in a classical ballet bun or french braids secured to the head for short hair.

NEW THIS YEAR: To ensure a proper fit, please visit the studio during our summer hours (Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM) to be sized for your leotard. Once sizing is complete, we will place the order for you. A fee of $80.00 for the leotard and skirt will be billed to your account two weeks before the first day of classes. Uniforms will be available for pickup later this summer, before the first day of classes.

Additional or Replacement Uniforms
All leotards will now be ordered through DanceWorks. If you would like to purchase a second uniform or need a replacement in the future, you can visit or contact them directly:

Leotard: Ava Tank Leotard
Color: Navy

Students must wear their class leotard, pink fully-footed ballet tights, pink ballet slippers, minimal jewelry, and warm-ups allowed as needed.

Hair must be in a classical ballet bun or french braids secured to the head for short hair.

Boys Dress Code

• Students need to wear a slim black fitting dance t-shirt (non-cotton and no logos), black footed tights, and black technique shoes.
• Hair must be well kept, out of the eyes, and please wear a dance belt. Warm-ups allowed as needed.
• Ballet 6 boys will have dance t-shirts made for them. They will be measured the first week of classes.
